You find out some Mime is doing a routine to your song on Youtube and it’s getting a lot of hits. You’re Natalie Imbruglia and you don’t have a ton of exposure yet. Do you talk to the label, get them to pull it, file a lawsuit or something like this? That’s what everyone else does right? OR you could go the other way and embrace this. This video shows how this was embraced. It’s silly and stupid, and I couldn’t even tell you what it appeared on, but it was better to get milage out of something people were liking on youtube than to try and sue a mime for no money right?

The Muppets try out for Star Wars? Why not? Lucas has to find another way to milk more revenue from this series anyway right?

As I was eating my box of Lucky Charms the other day it hit me like a hammer, either General Mills went retro with their cereal line, or somehow unbenouced to me, I miraculously went back in time. Apparently General Mills did go retro with their boxes of your favorite cereal, and I must have been the last to get that memo.
So to commemorate St. Patty’s Day Here is the Lucky Charm Box and A Cocoa Puffs to boot. I was also surprised to get an actual toy in the box. REALLY?! Not a temporary tattoo, or CD-R or something made out of harmless paper? (thank you lawyers.) No an honest-to-goodness Lego Nascar Racer with a sticker sheet so the recipient can apply stickers to it. COOL. Maybe I did go back in time.

I hated this song when I first saw this, but then I loved it. McDonalds has a way of beating you over the head with slightly off beat commercials that get to you. Apparently having the same plastic fish my grandpa thought was funny back in the day, hanging on a wall and pleading his case, IN SONG, to a burly bearded gentleman eating one of his possible brothers fit’s this idea. (And sells Filet-O-Fish.) It comes off slightly annoying, at first, but then you’ll succumb to it’s magical charm. Get up and dance with Filet-O-Fish in hand.

Okay Okay, this isn’t real. But admit it you are either A)Scared/Repulsed or B)Intrigued. I’m not judging, but you know what you felt when you read this. (And there is a reason you’re reading this.)
Got this from my friend Travis and noted the superb retouch job done on this image. (I can almost taste the bacon.)

Here is a commercial that I saw on hulu.com and thought was intriguing. The spot seems to capture all of the senses, or at least try to heighten them. It’s black and white spot that takes place on a sail boat without words (until the end), and somehow this made me pay attention more to what is happening. What is happening though? The slice of an orange, the creak of a sail, the pry of an oyster, the wind whipping, and a jumble of other quick cutting and focused movements of moments that build into one better experience over all, topped off with Grey Goose Vodka. Cheers.

I love this because it makes something that’s utterly confusing, understandable. No it doesn’t change the outcome, but maybe it changes how we look to the future.
