A couple of us talked about this commercial at work today. It was for FedEx Ground and appeared in the Superbowl 2 years ago. A simple, funny, and apparently memorable spot.
Here’s a little musical with your favorite office employees. I don’t remember all of these, but it makes me want to go back and watch all the episodes again.
For the video gaming world, The Beatles Rockband is huge. But it’s these little surreal animated movies that go with the game that get me. The Beatles songs are complimented by this fantastic dreamy world that’s created around them. I’m thinking a small featurette could be created in this same vein, and be captivating.
Here is a clever low-budget video that is a day-in-the-life of abbey road. The band is called “Blame Ringo” and the song is quite catchy. Their name, as explained on their site, is derived from an altercation the band had with Ringo when he threatened to sue them if they didn’t change their name at the time, “Goodnight Vienna” (his fourth studio album’s title) to something else. Well they were peeved and took the ball and ran with “Blame Ringo” and devoted their site to rubbing the peaceful hippy the wrong way on purpose. Love it. When someone hands you lemons, make yellow submarines.
The beatles remastered box set, Rock Band video game and Apple announces new products? I’m going to explode! Chuck Klosterman, a talented and clever author writes a review about this seemingly unknown band for The Onion’s AV Club and it is as entertaining as it is informative. Read it here. Also check out Chuck’s book Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs which is an excellent read on music and modern life.
This is clever take on how to stop infomercials in infomercial form. (It would be silly to do it any other way.) Front Page Films, a comedy troupe out of New York. Watch some of their other funny films on their site frontpagefilms.com
I saw this on ESPN and just laughed. In some ancient tracking system, that reminded me of how a Pope is selected (with the colored smoke and all), ESPN and SportsCenter can keep track if Brett Favre is playing football or not. Now if only they can devise a way to show what team he’ll be playing for.
