Pabst Coffin makes a great gift…

beerx-large.jpg
If you’re going to go, by God do it in style. And if your style involves good and cheap beer, and your idea is a coffin that looks like your favorite beer, a Pabst Coffin makes sense, almost too much so. Bill Bramanti from Chicago loves his idea. He had this coffin specially made to be buried in because it’s his favorite beer of course. He doesn’t plan on using it anytime soon, so right now it’s doubling as a cooler for, you guessed it. I’m seriously surprised this guy isn’t from Milwaukee, but I guess some of us are too busy here drinking or brewing it to think of being buried in it.

Kudos for Bill coming up with this idea because it’s probably the one market Beer companies haven’t “tapped” yet for their brands. (Though I think a St. Pauli Girl can coffin would be cooler, but that’s obviously for different reasons.) Sadly though this new idea might spark an epidemic among brands. You know some guy is going to see this and make his coffin look like a Nascar racer or worse. I’m thinking football logos, baseball, basically anything to to with sports, beer, who knows — my only question to Bill on his Pabst coffin would be, does he plan on being buried in a full or empty can?

Voiceover work is never done

Do you ever find you take your work home with you? Or better yet you live what you do? Take a look at the life of someone who lives with this very affliction and try to stop laughing. It’s GRRRRRRREAT!

why do we find this crap so entertaining?

Someone somewhere needed to fill a void in their lives, and they needed that void to be filled with poorly animated cats singing “Joy Joy Joy.” Is it funny that we like to see animals take on human qualities? Is it funny that we dress up our pets like people and our kids like animals? Apparently it is. Try not to at least smile when you watch this.

Chew on this…

Okay, I know this has been around awhile, but I told my friend Courtney about it and thought I should put it up here. This video demonstrates a great way at attacking a larger subject, in this case how the majority of food in america is processed. It follows two cartoon characters Leo and Moophius patterend after the popular movie the Matrix. But our characters are entering “The Meatrix.” You can follow the cartoon characters and take the “Red” pill and open your eyes to what is happening to the food you are eating. You can also ignore this by taking the blue pill while wondering why every couple months we have some sort of outbreak in our produce supply – Lettuce, sprouts or tomatoes. If you would like to know more visit the Meatrix.com to really sink your teeth into this subject. (oh that’s terrible.)

The new mix tape?

usb-mix-tape1.jpg
Sometimes when old ideas come back into new forms they’re cool, and sometimes they seem like a blatant attempt at cashing in on years gone by. This is a new usb drive created by Suck UK masquerading in the nostalgic wrappings of the classic mix tape. Does this new product recharge what was once a coveted and personalized vehicle of music exchange? Sadly no. I think it’s a cool idea, and they look great, and although it gets my nostalgic memories spinning at $40 bucks a pop, you have to be Richy Rich to be handing these out. One of the greatest things about mix tapes was that they were cheap. You could buy that five-pack of crappy tapes without covers that hung next to the cash register for a dollar. Maybe less. If you were a real snob you could get the two-pack of the high-fidelity tapes that came with the covers and stickers for the sides too. Yes these new usb drives are high tech, and the packaging is awesome but they take a nose-dive at the practicality level. For a present okay, but to use these in the same way as you made mix tapes back in the day? No way. Also they only hold 60 min worth of music, which is kitsch – but I was more of a 90 min guy anyway. So when I make mixes, as I still do, I stick to the standard CD, (they’re super cheap) and then design my own covers. They are personalized, portable mixes of music for my friends. Kind of like mix tapes, remember those?

And you thought you loved your computer…

Here is a very cool video for the song “Again and Again” by The Bird and The Bee. It was directed by Dennis Liu, and stars my favorite OS, Leopard. It’s a feast for the eyes that makes apple nerds, and computer lovers alike proud.

The Bubble Project will turn your head

This is brilliant. This guy is basically changing advertising from a one way medium, into a conversation on culture, the world, or anything you want it to be. It’s a thought provoking idea, that could only come from the underground and a former Art Director turned street artist. It’s serious, it’s funny, it’s simple and it’s ingenous. The top video is an excerpt from ABC News that explains the idea, the bottom is more of a mini-documentary on the movement he is creating.

Google to get you

Take a look at this Orwellian adventure. These two guys are using the increasingly popular street view in Google Maps. Think the government or Google is getting too close to you? Or perhaps the Googlement? Damn, and I just started using the google calendar. Well I guess it’s back to under the stairs for me.

Mac-o-lantern

mac-o-lantern

What, turn your prized paper-weight into something “useful”? How crazy is this mac culture? In one word, VERY. Here is a site to show you how to turn your old mac pumpkin, into a princess. Just beware when you’re trick-or-treating in Steve Jobs neighborhood, as it’s rumored that when he runs out of iPhones, he switches to these.
